There has been a lot of talk about Artificial Personal Aids (A Poseable Techubs) in the press recently. This has led to much debate as to their safety and potential misuse. The three main areas of worry relate to gene manipulation, genioplasty and organ transplantation. All these are very controversial areas of medical research and many researchers around the world are deeply worried that human personal developments may be affected by these technologies. However, I would like to point out some potential benefits from such techubs for humans, which should not be ignored.
One of the big concerns is the potential for genetic manipulation. We now know that we can manipulate other species through technology. Personally, I am very leery of this because we already know how other species do behave when they are dealt a psychological shock. Personally, I am also very wary of any invasive human experimentation in the future. However, if we use personal techubs and have them do specific experiments on selected people then maybe we can figure out how to deal with the situation and stop it at the source.
Organ transplants are another area of major concern. In the past, organ transplants were almost impossible to do safely and effectively. However, there have been a number of advancements in medical science in recent years and one of those is the creation of a new artificial lung for the lung cancer patient. These new lungs will allow patients to live a much longer life than was previously possible. Additionally, there are new treatments being developed for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. If we can develop a human brain chip or implant system, then maybe we could artificially raise the cognitive abilities of the human body and extend human life.
Another area that is worried about is the use of mind alteration technologies. This includes things such as subliminal messaging, brainwave entrainment, and lucid dreaming. Personally, I am all for anything that can help people enhance their personal abilities. However, there is a definite line that needs to be drawn when it comes to enhancing human mental abilities. If too much enhancement is done at the same time, the mind is not able to distinguish between the two and is damaged.
There are new ways of personalizing technology to better help people and enhance their lives. For instance, the advent of personal techubs is helping people to get an idea of what they want in order to design and style their own body suits. Some people feel that this may take away from personal design flexibility but I think that the two really go hand-in-hand. Of course, the personal customization aspect will always exist whether or not we have personal techubs and personal enhancements. You can get more information about human design gates.
Some people worry that if they get too far into personal techubs that they will have to choose between their human enhancement and their health. It seems to me that this is not such a big deal as long as we can choose the type of enhancements we want and not get them mixed up. There may be some health concerns associated with some types of human enhancements that we don’t need and shouldn’t have. I believe, however, that we should stay open to options and allow personal techubs as an option for enhancement rather than turn our backs on human enhancements altogether.
